Gemma is now director at Morgan Douglas and has helped oversee a huge level of growth from just over a year ago – including letting all of the firm’s properties prior to Christmas 2016 – no mean feat for a company still in its early years.

After 27 years in the military, you could be forgiven for thinking that Douglas – or Dougie to his friends – would be a stickler for the rules.
But one thing it did teach was a will to succeed and a sense of fairness – perfect for property lettings. Dougie brings a sense of fun to the office, balancing the work load with a friendly, approachable manner – making him the perfect point of contact for any perspective student tenants who may feel a little intimidated or nervous in their new surroundings.

A newbie to the Morgan Douglas offices, student lettings administrator Adele only started with the company in September 2016, but has wasted no time in getting tenant liaison ship-shape.
Working as part of the close-knit and professional Morgan Douglas team, Adele is always on hand to ensure there is some semblance of order to the hectic, yet rewarding daily life in the office, with a diary that is rarely empty.
No matter if talking to a landlord or a tenant, Adele always aims to go the extra mile to make sure they leave with a smile and is extremely interested in making sure the service delivered is always first class – no matter the degree they may be studying.
Tony Ayton – Director of Property management
Having served 24 years in the British Army, Morgan Douglas’ Tony Ayton has learned a few things about assessing situations, decision making and prioritising.
After just months with the team he brings a can-do attitude as well as a desire to ensure a sense of fairness to every tenant - with the lessons learned in the military extending to the Morgan Douglas team, while maintaining the classic British humour to keep up morale.
Responsible for the physical management of the properties, covering everything from routine maintenance to emergency repairs and even check-ins and check-outs, Tony has a wide range of skilled, reliable trade experts to call upon when needed.
It all means the student population, which Tony feels is one of the greatest aspects of Durham, adding to the atmosphere and the vibe of the historic city, is kept happy and in properties that are more than up to high military standards.
